Hey ThoughtScape Comics gang!
A quick update before summer slips completely away from us…
Progress continues on ThoughtScape Comics #3, including me lettering Playing Opossum, the story Desolina Fletcher and I have been working on. Thinking I’d get with the modern times, I stole my child’s iPad to see how lettering went working directly on the screen using Adobe Illustrator vs. the disconnected old tablet I used for The Griever in TSC #2 (and maybe a little bit of A Spy Without A Face in #1, though maybe I just did all that with the mouse?). It’s bit of a pain getting all the needed files and fonts into Adobe’s Creative Cloud, and layer volume handling is weak-ish, but overall the process is way more fluid and it is way easier to trace the masters for learning purposes.
I am also hard at work (or at least worrying a lot, haha) figuring out how to bring the next issues of ThoughtScape Comics your way, including print versions. More to come sooner rather than later, I hope.
My friend Justin Richards is running a Kickstarter you should check out:
Everything is Different Now!Tons of great folks on this one, and some amazing looking stories and pieces, including one of the best things I’ve seen in forever, No-Sickle-Me Sell-Mo…
Also not to be missed: The Bombardment on Netflix. Holy cow. Brutal, beautiful, and incredibly well done. This is going next to The Hitcher in my favorite movie watches of 2022.
And finally, if you’re looking for a mind-blowing comic or a gift for a comics-loving pal, check out Matthew Allison’s Cankor. A beautiful, wild book.
Have a great week!
Matt
